Collaborative Tag

Collaborative Tag is an ongoing gallery of creative work, including music, film, text and visual art. It is an artistic dialogue between survivors, carers and people experiencing mental distress who have created work in response to each other, like a game of tag. It may change and grow, before during and after the conference to reflect the development of new work and the needs and responses of the participants.

Collective Dissent As activists with lived experience of mental health issues, we have used the arts for many years, to empower others and create action for positive social change.  We employ creative resistance to address issues of inequality, social justice and environmental crisis.

 

Projection on Home at St Mathew's Piece

Art activism supporting the Community campaign to protect St Matthew's Piece.

Object Now was part of a film projected onto a house on Sturton Street directly across from St Matthew’s Piece, gifted in 1898 for the recreation of local residents “for ever”. The projection was shown over the last few days  of the 10-month campaign by FoSMP to stop the development of a 6-storey building for student accommodation on the northern half of the Piece. The only park in all of Petersfield, with the smallest provision of green space per head of population, in the densest Ward of Cambridge, the projection was shown over several nights to alert residents of the deadline for sending in objections. As a result over 50 additional objections were submitted. During the Covid-19 lockdowns, the park had served as a place of solace and mental well being for residents, particularly over the hot summer days, as dappled shade caused by the magnificent Plane Trees cast their magical shadows over the Piece. It brought the Community together in mutual resistance to the plans. The planning application was refused on March 24, 2021

Private Resistance
